Psycho isn’t a cult horror film for nothing – it’s filled with little details that make it worth watching again and again. There’s even a brief cameo by the man himself, Hitchcock.
This is pretty hard to notice, but in one shot, as Norman Bates sits at the police station, Hitchcock actually superimposed Mrs Bates’ mummified skull on top of Norman’s face, hinting at the movie’s big reveal. To make matters creepier, not all theatrical versions of the movie had this image, leaving the viewers to wonder if they’ve really seen the image or not…
