Fight Club is a cult movie for good reason – it’s truly one of a kind. One of the unique “features” David Fincher added to the film was a photo of someone’s privates, which flashes on the screen unnoticed. Besides that, he also added brief flashes of Tyler Durden before Brad Pitt was officially introduced, hinting at the fact that his character is a figment of the protagonist’s mind.
This was explained by Fincher, saying Tyler “remains only on the periphery of the narrator’s consciousness.” In one scene, we briefly see a label on a payphone that reads “no incoming calls,” right before Tyler calls the protagonist on that phone – foreshadowing the twist at the end.
