Every witch or wizard need a trusty pet in the Harry Potter universe, and as we all know – Harry’s pet was the magestic owl named Hedwig, who went above and beyond for the boy wizard. Fans adored Hedwig for her dedication to Harry, and the fact that she sacrificed her own life in order to protect Harry in The Deathly Hallows.
And while the books say that Hedwig is named after a medieval witch or wizard, in reality, she was named after the patron saint of orphaned and abandoned children. Isn’t that totally appropriate for a pet who guarded her owner’s life so well?
