Not many of us know Morse code, but imagine watching a movie and understanding a coded message in Morse code – and realizing it’s different than what’s translated on the screen. In Peter Jackson’s 2005 remake of King Kong, just before the crew arrives at Skull Island, SS Venture’s Captain Englehom gets a coded message in Morse.
He then states that Carl Denham is wanted by the police, but that’s not what the code said. What it actually read was “show me the monkey” – hinting at the fact that everyone came to watch the movie to see the famous ape.
