There aren’t many hidden messages in a movies like Dodgeball, since we’re mostly meant to enjoy what’s happening on the surface without having to dig deep. It is about grown man hitting each other in the face with inflatable balls, after all. There is one little reference in it that’s pretty cool, though.
In the movie, the Average Joe’s Gym compete against the “bad guys”, the Purple Cobras, in a David and Goliath sort of battle. “Joes” vs. “Cobras” is actually a nod to G.I. Joe, who fought the crime organization Cobra.
