Black Swan earned many award nominations and some phenomenal wins, and it was for good reason. It was one of the most masterfully layered movies, telling the story through the eyes of a paranoid-schizophrenic ballerina and her symptoms as she spirals out of control, something we only fully realize at the end of the film.
While there were many, many confusing messages throughout the film, the club scene was packed with fast shots of Nina’s hallucinations that were too quick to notice for the most part. Either she’s surrounded by different versions of herself, or she’s dancing with the club director (who isn’t at the club), and it all comes to hint at Nina’s mental state of mind.
