Your body goes through a lot of changes when you grow up. You get taller and grow more hair on your body, among other things. One thing that doesn’t happen, though, is that you suddenly become waterproof. As great as that would be, you’re just as vulnerable to water when you become an adult as you were before.
With that in mind, we’ve no idea why this person thought it was stupid for people to continue using umbrellas despite being “grown.” It’s not like they become useless with age.
